Born in Milan on 20 October 1802, died in Dolo on 29 March 1885. After having attended the Brera Academy and then studied with Giovanni Migliara, of whom he was an imitator, in 1830 he went to Paris where he stayed for a long time. Appointed, in 1845, on the death of l'Orsi, teacher of perspective at the Venice Academy, he taught there for thirty years. He rendered on the canvas with freshness and vigor views of the city and Parisian and Venetian interiors. He exhibited in Milan, Venice, Pavia, Turin. Main works by him: Interior of the Milan Cathedral; View of the courtyard of the Fountain in the Certosa di Pavia with the episode of Carlo Vili led to the visit of the convent by Lodovico il Moro; Dock of a Capuchin convent; Workshop of a farrier in the interior of a castle; Interior of a cloister in Gerolimitani with figures representing the retreat of Charles V; Village at the fair surprised by the storm; Interior of the church of San Fedele in Como; Atrium of the Maggiore Monastery of Milan; Interior of the Abbey of San Leu in Paris; Melancholia (half figure); Last moments of Count Ugolino; Work of mercy; Saul's fury against David; Chapel of San Vittore in the Brembate cave; Pediment of the Certosa di Pavia.
