The father Reyna Francisco Zayas (1825 - 1892) and the mother Matilde Manescau Otsman (1823 - 1910), had ten children including Antonio Maria. Both parents enjoyed a good social position, brother Ricardo Reyna and uncle José Reyna Zayas, were both mayors of the city of Coin which is located in Malaga in the Andalusian region of Spain. From a young age he showed a predisposition and a great passion for drawing, thanks to this strong talent, he was enrolled in painting courses at the School of Fine Arts in Malaga, where he began his artistic training. Becoming a celebrity in his hometown, the County Council got him an income in cash so that he could broaden his studies and knowledge of him. These entrances allowed him to move to Italy, where he was able to devote himself to the study of the old masters, and to know all the ferments that were developing in Italy and France. He chose the city of Rome, where he had acquaintances with the most important artists of the moment, and where he married the opera singer Beatrice Mililotti De Santis, well known in the capital. Also thanks to his wife's acquaintances, he had important commissions among the most important families in the city; his painting, judged by the critics as "excellent" finding admirers also in the rest of Italy, allowed him to enjoy some success already in life. The artist is considered one of the most significant authors of Venetian landscape painting between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. He painted with particular attention the Venetian palaces and architecture, for this reason he was referred to as The Painter of Venice; using a completely personal technique, which gave his works a vibrant and intense light through a very rich chromatically palette. He exhibited at the National of Fine Arts in Paris in 1887 and also participated in the Great Exhibition of Rome in 1901 and 1911. In 1901 he presented in this exhibition the work entitled in Spanish / Andalusian: Rancho in which a property known as Cortijo Ricardo is masterfully represented, this painting is currently kept in the Coin Museum. Antonio Reyna, together with Rafael Senet Perez, continued the tradition started by Ortega Y Martin Rico, painters of light and color who fixed their impressions on the canvas through pictorial images animated by Venetian canals, gondolas, palaces and squares.
