Born on 5 August 1855 in Milan, died there on 12 February 1917. Employed in the Treasury, only in 1877 did he enroll in courses at the Brera Academy, where he had Raffaele Casnedi and Giuseppe Bertini as teachers. He made his debut with genre paintings and with appreciated still lifes, also winning the Cassani prize with Light and work. A co-disciple of Segantini, he was attracted by Divisionism, whose technique he adopted for some landscape paintings. Among his works we remember: Fruit; Seller of pumpkins, presented at the Milan exhibition in 1886; Dilettante and Una pagina comica, exhibited in Venice in 1887; A bricklayer; Effect of gray weather and Fuori Porta, with which the artist participated in the 1891 Milan Triennale; Serenity; The blue book, exhibited at the Permanente in 1934 and then housed in a private collection in Milan; in the Gallery of Modern Art in Milan there are preserved of him: The dawn of the worker; Mariuccia and Portrait of a Woman, the last of whom appeared in 1900 at the Lombard Painting Exhibition of the nineteenth century. They are still to be remembered: Looking out the window; Thoughtful child; Popolane; Contemplation; The little brothers; Maternity; The stop; Woman sewing; Spring; Mountain landscape; Shadows and lights; Girl at the sea; Naked; Little girl in the garden; Shepherdess with flock; The peach tree in bloom. He was an excellent restorer; for this activity his name is linked to the restoration of the baroque frescoes in the church of Sant'Antonio, in Milan and especially those by Luini in the church of the Monastero Maggiore in Milan.
