Born in Messina on 23 November 1850, died in 1901. He took part in the battle of Lissa as a naval officer and traveled for many years visiting all over the world; he had so little time to devote himself to the painting he was passionate about. Among his works we note: Caracciolo asks for a Christian burial, with which he made himself known and which was purchased by the Ministry of Public Education; Alle Piramidi, exhibited in Milan in 1883; Madonna, which Callari defines "of very evident Morellian inspiration in color and manner" and many impressions made during his travels, especially in the East, many of which are preserved in the Capodimonte Gallery in Naples.
