Born in Lyon, to an Italian family, on 8 October 1808, died in Milan on 29 June 1877. A good landscape painter, he held the chair of landscape at the Brera Academy from 1864 to his death, esteemed by his colleagues, including Giuseppe Bertini. Four of his landscapes are preserved in the Galleria d'Arte Moderna in Milan, two of which are Views of Chioggia. Two other paintings by him, Coste di Normandia and Brigantino in mare, belong to Count E. Barbiano di Belgioioso.
